Data Protection Policy

This page documents how Marianne Fry Lectures (MFL) processes the information we hold about you.

Booking a place for an MFL event

When you book a place at an MFL event, we will use the information you provide only for the purpose of managing your booking and sending you information relative to the event, such as joining instructions, feedback requests etc.

If you agree to have your name, email address and location included on the participants list, this will only be shared with other participants.

When you use Stripe to pay for your booking, the payment request will be transferred to Stripe.  Stripe has stated it conforms to the EU GDPR requirements.

We presently retain booking information for our records indefinitely, pending an easy way of deleting it on an ‘old data’ basis.  You may request us to delete it sooner, once the event has taken place.

MFL Mailing List

You may add yourself to our mailing list through the subscribe page on our website.

When booking a place at an MFL event, you agree to be included on our mailing list.

We will only use your details on our mailing list to inform you of MFL matters.

Our mailing list contains your name, email address, any fall-back contact method and a record of which MFL events you have attended.  We also record how you joined the list and your interactions with our emails sent through the list.

MFL uses MailChimp to manage our mailing list.   You consent to us transferring the relevant information to our account with MailChimp for this purpose.  MailChimp is located in the USA and your data will be held there.  MailChimp has certified its compliance with the EU-US Privacy Shield  Framework.

Managing your information

Every email sent through MailChimp will contain a link through which you may update your contact details or unsubscribe from the list.  When you unsubscribe, your details will be retained although you will no longer receive emails from us. We anticipate MailChimp will shortly provide a means of deleting unsubscribed users.

You may request details of the information we have on record by using the contact form on our website.

You may request that we delete the information we hold.  If we delete the information, this will include any record of which events you attended, and we will be unable confirm that you attended or to contact you again.

The MFL Data Controller is Tony Voss.

We believe the above information demonstrates that we comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2017.
